Arts Integration for Teachers
Partners in Education
The Bologna Performing Arts Center and Clarksdale Municipal School District are members of the Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Selected because of their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of education in and through the arts, the Partnership team participates in collaborative efforts to provide professional development opportunities in the arts for educators.
The Partners in Education Annual Meeting
Team members from the Bologna Performing Arts Center and the Clarksdale Municipal School District attend the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Annual Meeting in February 2019, representing Mississippi Team 2012. Partners in Education Workshops and Teaching Demonstrations
During the school-year, the Bologna Center and the Clarksdale Municipal School District collaborate to provide professional development workshops for educators. Each 3-hour workshop includes various methods and lessons that enhance the arts education curriculum in regular classroom subjects. State and national teaching artists lead each professional development workshop and provide free lesson plans and supplementary supplies to use in the classroom space. Arts integration professional development helps to increase both the competence and confidence of core teachers in the classroom as they work to provide a holistic teaching experience that nurtures the artist in every student!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, professional development workshops for the fall semester of the 2020-2021 school year have been postponed to redirect focus to other district efforts.
Please return to this page in the spring 2021 semester for more information on the program.
