2023 Summer Movie Series Kicks Off with $5 General Admission Tickets

CLEVELAND, MS – Beginning in May, the Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) on the campus of Delta State University in Cleveland will offer screenings of newly released major motion pictures on its big screen in the Delta & Pine Land Theater. General admission tickets for the movies are $5 each and are available at the BPAC Ticket Office, by phone at 662-846-4626, or online at www.bolognapac.com.

There will be two movies shown each month on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. All films are rated PG and are family-friendly. Movie popcorn, candy concessions, and bottled water will be available for purchase in the BPAC lobby.

The Summer Movie Series starts on Tuesday, May 23 with Lightyear, an origin story for one of the main characters in Pixar Animation Studio’s Toy Story franchise. While spending years attempting to return home, marooned Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear encounters an army of ruthless robots commanded by the evil Zurg, who are attempting to steal his fuel source. The film is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

On May 30, BPAC will show another origin story film. Minions: The Rise of Gru, is the fifth installment of Universal Pictures’ Despicable Me franchise, and follows a twelve-year-old Felonious Gru prior to his rise as an evil mastermind with the infamous Minions by his side. The film is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Following Gru and his minions on June 6th is the DC League of Super-Pets, a film featuring the Legion of Superpets from the DC Comics universe. In this film, Superman’s dog Krypto must master his own powers for a rescue mission when Superman is kidnapped. The movie is rated PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

On June 27th, the BPAC welcomes Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, a movie about a reptile who lives in a house on East 88th Street in New York City. Lyle the crocodile enjoys helping the Primm family with everyday chores and playing with the neighborhood kids, but one neighbor insists that Lyle belongs in a zoo. Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber and featuring original songs by the writing team behind The Greatest Showman, the PG-rated film has a run time of 1 hour and 46 minutes.

Disney’s Strange World will play on July 11th. The film follows a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, who must set aside their differences as they embark on a journey to a mysterious subterranean land inhabited by surreal lifeforms, in order to save their society’s energy source. The film is PG and has a run time of 1 hour and 44 minutes.

The final film in the Summer Movie Series is Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, playing on July 25th. When Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll and he has burned through eight of his nine lives, he launches an epic journey to restore them by finding the mythical Last Wish. This PG-rated film has a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes.
