School-Time Matinee Series

happy kiddos school time matineeSince 2004, the Bologna Performing Arts Center’s School-Time Matinee Series has connected children, teachers, and schools with the performing arts in profound and meaningful ways, bringing performances to Mississippi that complement the school curriculum and introduce students to worlds they have never known before.

By bringing your students to a live performing arts experience, you are giving them the gifts of broadened perspective and experiential learning. Exposure to live theater ignites a child’s imagination in a unique way, opening the door to a greater understanding of the world and a life-long love of the arts.

The School-Time Matinee Series strives to offer a wide variety of programming that incorporates academic subject matter, literary classics, and art-forms such as music and theatre. The Matinee Series also aims to meet the artistic and educational needs of students in all grade-levels.

You’re not just teaching your students about the content of the performance. You’re teaching them about theatre procedure—the how, not just the what—and part of that lesson includes how to be a good audience member. Click here to download: School-Time Matinee Series Theater Etiquette Handout.
