Led by former Mississippi Arts Commission director of arts education Kim Whitt, this section will focus on defining arts integration and taking established lesson plans to the next level with an arts element. Through visual arts exercises and small group discussion, teachers will learn how to use existing work with art to elevate student understanding. The session is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the district’s 60% day.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available through Delta State University for this workshop series. In order to obtain the 6 contact hours required by MDE for CEU credit, teachers must attend one three-hour session on November 15, and the upcoming arts integration workshop which will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. CEUs cost $15 and require minimal paperwork. Call 662-846-4844 for further information.
